“When the LORD your God has enlarged your territory as he promised you, and you crave meat and say, “I would like some meat,” then you may eat as much of it as you want.” Deuteronomy 12:20
I was reminded of this verse yesterday – I was at uni at about 3pm, and suddenly I thought to myself: “I crave juice” and I followed that thought up with the comment, “I would like some juice.” So I decided to head home and take the family out for some juice at the local fresh-juice-squeezing-station. After that we went to the park and ran around, and looked for shapes in the clouds, and played on the swings, and finally made our way home. It was just a fun time with my wife and two little ones, and it made me think: Sometimes we can get so caught up with tasks and hardships and strivings and being anti-prosperity-gospel that we can forget that God is a cheerful giver…

i hear this… I just got home recently and things are going slow for a few more week and I’ve had a lot of time to just enjoy life and catch up with friends I haven’t seen in a while… it’s been a blast. I’ve been enjoying the Lord and the lot he’s given me in this life.
for me it hasn’t been juice… but things just like it… well said..
Yup, its fun to just enjoy life! We’re going back to the hotel we stayed for our honeymoon this weekend and taking our 19mo old daughter with us – they have a huge swimming area and everything – it’ll be lots of fun!
Thanks, Matthew. Have you had Jamba Juice?
I agree guys… sometimes it’s important simply to gratefully remember that, first and foremost, we’re on the receiving end of God’s generosity.
TC: I don’t think we have Jamba Juice here – there are similar things though, like Boost Juice. One American import that I did discover recently, in London, was Ben’s Cookies… WHOA!!! Why don’t they have Ben’s Cookies in Nottingham???? They are DEEEEEElicious. The guy who I was in London with – Peter – developed such an addiction that I had to physically hold him back. He claimed he could stop any time he wanted, but I could tell by the glazed look in his eyes that it was the cookies talking.
O true. I really appreciated your post. Thank you!
Matthew, Ben Cookies, named after the Big Ben?
I’m hooked on Jamba Strawberry Wild.
I crave Ben’s cookies.
Caron: Thanks for stopping by – glad you could connect with my little reflection
TC: I’m pretty sure they’re named after some guy called Ben… possibly big, but as yet unconfirmed.
Peter: Don’t make me get the tazer again!!
