When I take the day off…

Took the day off uni today, and – amongst other things – finished off a painting I’ve been working on for a little while:

  1. A rich painting, nice

  2. fruit cake? wait – I see the virgin mary! ;-)

  3. hey thank you :-)

(oh… and it’s not the virgin mary – it’s michael jackson!!)

  4. Wot is it Math?

  5. tis a nativity scene… well… christmas cake

  6. I actually didn’t see it as cake to begin with . I saw an aerial view from a distance of figures gathered around a central point (the largish ‘cherry’, shaped like an angel), but these figures are only in the one “slice” as it turns out to be. Realising it was called “nativity”, I imagined I was looking into the manger from above, and could also see the manger (slice) next to it was empty of people, because for everyone else there was room at the inn.

Go on, tell me the raisin at the bottom of the slice doesnt resemble an aerial view of livestock…a cow, or perhaps an ox?

Well done Matthew…. But I dont see Michael Jackson ;-)

  7. hmm this makes me think perhaps I will keep the name ‘nativity’ – because I like all those associations & ponderings it’s raising… my other idea had been to call it ‘xmas’ – which would have raised its own set of ponderings – but I like the suggestioin that perhaps the nativity is obscured by rich cake!
