Guess the food item

Last night we had a band meeting, to prepare for our annual “bonfire night” gig this Thursday.  Item three on the agenda was “food” – so we sampled some delicacies from the local fish n’ chip shop.  So here’s where the competition comes in – guess what this item is

mystery

It was from the fish n’ chip shop, and as you can see, had a most pleasing grease content.  The prize for this competition is the glory associated with knowing what this item is!

  1. Fried eggplant?

  2. nope… although I also thought that’s what it looked like!

  3. I’m thinking fried cod, or maybe even fried cod with margarine au jus–given the residue on the baking paper. :-)

  4. I need some idea of size – there needs to be a scale!

  5. Good to hear you’re conforming to official band protocol. Looks like battered chicken in breadcrumbs to me. Whatever it is it’s got to taste good with all that grease on it…

  6. Not fried cod – although the jus sounds appetising!… and not battered chicken.

It’s about the size of the palm of a seven year old’s hand.

  7. Thats pretty specific – is it 7-year-old’s-palm fritter?

  8. stop – you’re making me hungry…

  9. A kidney fritter – its the right sort of shape! (bet you aren’t still hungry now)

  10. not a kidney!

    And now for the answer……….

The item is CAULIFLOWER CHEESE – isn’t it obvious?!!

  11. aww now I feel so stupid for not recognising it !?!?!?!

Did it taste like cauliflower cheese? Was there actually cauliflower in it?

  12. It tasted right, but I couldn’t finish my portion – it just didn’t look the part
