I’m in the middle of marking Greek exams at the moment, and earlier today I was an exam invigilator (fancy word for schmo who sits up the front). As I watched people sitting their exams, it struck me that some people respond to uncertainty by sitting back, staring intently into space, and trying to think of something worthwhile to write. But if this is you, let me give one small bit of advice: Just write something – I can’t give you any marks for blank space, but if you at least write something, you might be able to scrape together a half mark-here and a half-mark there. So remember that when you’re in your exams: better to have a small gem in a barrow load of manure, than to have an empty barrow.
