I’m pleased and relieved and encouraged to say that a revised version of my dissertation will be published by Cambridge University Press, in the SNTS monograph series. I’m probably going to go for the title:
Kerygma in the Arrangement of 1 Corinthians: The Impact of Paul’s Gospel on Paul’s Macro-Rhetoric
In revising it I’ve tried to make the whole thing clearer, better (especially in relation to 1 Cor 15), and slightly more comprehensive. I’m happy with the way this has worked out, and hoping it will make a genuinely worthwhile contribution to scholarly discussion of 1 Corinthians.

Congratulations!
Many congrats!
Ditto!!
Congrats!
If only I could get review copies from CUP…
Great news, Matt. Really glad it’s going to get the wider audience it deserves.
I look forward to reading it. (But don’t you think using “Paul’s” twice is bit much? How about replacing the second one with “His”?)
Congrats!
Congrats Matthew. A prestigious deal, well deserved.
Matthew – you deserve it brother! Please keep us posted – I definitely want to get my own copy!
Bravo Matty. Lots of hard work and effort put into it as we all know. Pray all of these high level scholarly articles etc will in a round about way bring more people to know Christ and train up others for effective teaching.

“Kerygma in the Arrangement of 1 Corinthians: The Impact of Paul’s Gospel on Paul’s Macro-Rhetoric” sounds worth buying… if I can be forward though, would it remove the redundancy to say “The Impact of Paul’s Gospel on His Macro-Rhetoric”?
Hey thank you everyone
I’ll have a think about the redundant “Paul” in the title. I have a few months in which to finalise things, so that will allow me a bit of space to review the title and contents.
Matthew, seems like 1 Cor 15 is quite important in your PhD. I had great time listening to Jurgen Moltmann on Tuesday speaking about the resurrection – great Q & A afterwards. Little report here: http://resurrectionhope.blogspot.com/2012/02/did-christ-rise-or-do-we-need-him-to.html
Thanks for the report Frederik – and what a great quote from the book!
Many congratulations!
May it bring glory to God, Matt.

Staci’s comment: “I have no idea what the title means.” So, congratulationzzz! =)
Shhh… no one knows what it means – don’t let the cat out of the bag!
Congrats!
Glory to God? I thought the point of publishing a dissertation (with CUP’s SNTS monography series, no less!) was to work your way into a tenure-track position.
Congratulations, Matthew … you can’t please everyone I guess! I Corinthians is an awesome epistle!! What made you pick I Corinthians for your research? I choose I Corinthians for my Master’s thesis through being inspired by Martin Luther’s ‘Theology of the Cross’ (my thesis was on I Cor 1:17-25).
Blessings.

Yes, 1 Cor has been more of a key Reformation text than has often been credited – like you say, Luther’s theology of the cross is especially drawn from this epistle. The main reason I chose to do my research on 1 Cor was simply that I was curious about why Paul dealt with those topics in that order – I wanted to get a better sense of whether there was a central theme combining it all or whether it was a more free arrangement of pressing issues. I wasn’t satisfied with the answers provided by Rhetorical Criticism, and thought I could do something useful in probing this question.
