To celebrate the release of my book The World of 1 Corinthians: An Annotated Visual and Literary Source Commentary, I have decided to give away a copy to one lucky person on each continent, including Antarctica. For non-Antarctic continents, the proviso is that it has to be a country for which http://www.thebookdepository.com or http://www.thebookdepository.co.uk offer free delivery.
I still haven’t actually seen the book myself. So maybe I shouldn’t have been so quick to poke fun at book endorsements in my previous post – I don’t yet know what appears on my own book. Nevertheless, the book seems to be out, so I’ll purchase a few and give ‘em away.
Here are the rules:
- Make a comment on this post, indicating your continent (if you are incontinent, I don’t want to know about it)
- Mention this giveaway on your own blog or facebook or twitter or telephone or telegraph or morse code
I will choose winners by a particular method of my devising. Cryptotheology is an equal opportunity prize awarder.

North America
Also, using continents is a nice step to defeating ethnocentrism….
North America. And I’ve tweeted this.
A North American who has spent more than half of my life on the African continent. Currently living in Kenya. Would love to introduce your book here. Tweeting it.
Australia
North America… and one who appreciates the finer points of Aussie-double hard boiled eggs on a Theological blog.
Australia. I’d like mine without jello please. And signed too.
What? I would love one *with* jello.
Australia, of course.
Malaysia…posting on Twitter.
And Malaysia is truly Asia of course.
Europe. Seeing as I’m the first from Europe, I thought I could be in with a chance. I shall post on the Facebook.
North America
North America!
Well so far it seems we have entrants from:
Asia
Africa
North America
Australia
Europe
…keep ‘em rolling in!
Are sisters-in-law allowed to enter?
I posted about it on Facebook anyway because I have some friends who might be interested. I was surprised to see someone else in Malaysia already reply!
Of course! The more the merrier
North America. I’ll write you a nuanced book review (I have too many graduate courses in biblical studies to count, including two courses focused exclusively on the Pauline letters) to go on my blog (http:///www.lifeloveliturgy.com) if I am the lucky winner.
It looks intriguing!
Can this be true, I’m the first to mention Great Brittian? I’ll put it on Facebook right away…
2nd. I’m from the UK. Having said that, we still both have a 50% chance of winning.
Congrats on your publication! I can’t wait to see it. (I’m ensconced in the North American continent for now.)
North America! (I’m shouting for some reason)

Man have I been waiting for this book!
I have tweeted facebooked and blogged the giveaway. I’ll enter for Australia and Antartica because Adelaide is pretty close to Antarctica! Also, I am entering this not for myself but for a friend about to commence their PHD in this area.
I’m from Australia, although there are people more worthy than me – like Mark entering to bless someone else with the book
I live in Europe (Slovakia)
Shared also on Facebook! Congarts to the book!
I’m from America — which, as I was rightly taught in school, run from Alaska to Argentina. Five Continent Model FTW!
(Posting on Twitter.)
Thanks for the interest all… And it’s nice to see a couple of attempts at dual-continent status. I’ll give it a little more time for further entries. After all, I STILL haven’t seen a real live hard copy of the book myself yet…
N. America!
Is this still on? Sorry to spoil Kyle Essary’s party but here’s another entry from Malaysia!
Entries are only just still open – I’ve now received my copies of the books, so I plan to draw winners tomorrow…
Okay all, I have put everyone’s name in a hat, and I am about to draw out the winners. I will announce the results in a new post…
