Who is Paul, and how should we best understand him? Is he a Pharisee? An apostle? An evangelist? A pastor? A missionary? A revolutionary? An apologist? All of these in different measure, and others besides?
In 2011, T&T Clark Bloomsbury published a book called Paul as Missionary, which argued, through a number of essays, that Paul should primarily be conceived as a missionary. Now, the same publisher is set to put out a book called Paul as Pastor, in which a variety of contributors argue that this identification provides another crucial perspective. It arises from a conference by the same name at Ridley Melbourne last year. I would guess it will be out some time next year.
